Starting our trip in the Great Barrier Reef, we spend four days scuba diving! All campers will receive a PADI dive certification (either open water or advanced) in the warm water surrounded by colorful coral and amazing aquatic life. We spend the days exploring coral walls, mysterious swim-throughs and exotic fish of the reef, all while enjoying the luxuries of a live-aboard boat. In the Great Dividing Range outside of Cairns, we stay with a local Aboriginal host family and gain firsthand perspective into an ancient way of life. Our homestay offers a cultural exchange including the opportunity to learn traditional hunting and gathering techniques, hear stories, and cook an authentic meal together. Our journey continues with an epic whitewater rafting trip on the Barron River, which is renowned for its thrilling rapids and stunning course through national parklands! Further north, near Port Douglas, we explore the lush and ancient rain forests and unique ecosystems of north Queensland. We interact with some of Australia's famed wildlife -- koalas, kangaroos, croc's and countless exotic birds -- while visiting a set of idyllic waterfalls and swimming holes in Wooroonooran National Park. We also give back by planting new trees in the National Park. Next, we visit Cape Tribulation where enjoy secluded beaches, amazing wildlife, and stay in jungle lodges just footsteps from the beach!
We end our Aussie adventure in Sydney, a bustling metropolis and cultural capital of Australia. Explore Sydney's world-famous Opera House and Harbor Bridge! Surf Manly Beach, an Australian landmark renowned for its great waves and unique surf culture. Local professional guides break us into groups and kickstart our evolution from "Shark Biscuits" (beginners) to "Surfies" (real Australian pros)!
