Pura Vida! We start our three-week adventure with five days of morning conversational Spanish language classes. Designed with fun and everyday conversational skills in mind, we partner with young Costa Rican Spanish teachers to create an engaging classroom experience. Classes have a maximum of four Bold Earth students per teacher and involve games, field trips and lots of laughter! After morning classes, we spend the afternoons surfing, hiking, horseback riding and exploring an active volcano! During this portion of the trip, each student stays with his or her own friendly host family. This is a wonderful start to our Costa Rica Teen Camp.
Our next experience is a volunteer project with the Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation. Based in a small village, we live with host families in the community and spend two days building a new playground at the local school. Next, we travel to the Pacific Coast to work on a project helping endangered sea turtles. Working with the Ostional Wildlife Refuge, we help sea turtles find safe hatching areas and assist baby sea turtles to safely walk to the ocean. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience on our Costa Rica teen trip!
With our community service and classroom sections behind us, we spend several days traveling with one thing in mind . . . adventure! Jungle zip-lines, snorkeling, tubing and sailing all lead up to our final adventure: rafting Class III rapids alongside monkeys and toucans on the wild Pacuare River. Our trip concludes at a backpackers lodge near Arenal Volcano, where we watch the distant flow of red-hot lava from the safety our cabanas in the jungle. Amazing adventure on Bold Earth's Costa Rica teen trip!

I had an amazing time on my Bold Earth Costa Rica Classic trip. I loved everything we did! The adventure activities were perfect!! I have no complaints. I thought the CPI classes were really helpful and improved my Spanish a lot. Both the home stays and the community service helped me grow and see myself in a different way. My guides were great! They were so helpful and welcoming and I never felt in danger or too far out of my comfort zone. I bonded with the 13 kids on my trip extremely well and I made memories that I will never forget. I still keep in contact with most of the kids and both of my guides. I had a really good time doing the community service part of the trip. Once I got used to it, I loved my home stays. It pushed me to try something new and i'm so glad that I did. I think the trip as a whole was a great learning opportunity for me. Just traveling to such an amazing place without my family and being responsible for myself. Most people I know never get this opportunity and I am so glad that I had it. I learned so much about myself.
