Above Park City, Utah we gear up for three days of rock climbing in Utah’s Wasatch Range. Professional climbing guides teach us the necessary skills of top-rope climbing, including belaying, rappelling, proper climbing techniques. At night, we camp in wildflower meadows next to the ski lifts of Snowbird on an amazing middle school summer camp.
Through the amazing sandstone walls of Westwater Canyon, we spend three days whitewater rafting the Colorado River. Thrills and spills abound as we run Class III and IV rapids such as, “Staircase” and “Marble Canyon." We leave the river near Moab and head into Arches National Park for a sunset hike to the iconic Delicate Arch. A highlight of Bold Earth's leadership summer camp!
Teamwork, leadership and wilderness skills are the goals of Epic Discovery, a summer leadership camp specifically designed for campers in 8th and 9th grades! We begin our Grand Canyon experience with a community service project on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. With amazing views and an engaging project, campers have the chance to give back. Next, we hike to Havasu Canyon, a tributary of the Grand Canyon. A lush, waterfall-seared paradise located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon - we spend 3 days swimming and hiking to the Colorado River. This is Bold Earth's highest rated backpack trip!
Our final backpack allows campers to practice all the backcountry skills we’ve acquired over the past three weeks. Campers take a leadership role in planning the backpack; organizing meals, planning the route and choosing camp locations. Campers enjoy the summer leadership camp while hiking around alpine lakes and through amazing meadows while supervised by Bold Earth's trip leaders.
Yes, Epic Discovery and all Bold Earth trips are designed to be combined to create a 4, 6 or 8 week Bold Earth leadership summer camp. If you are interested contact our Colorado office for more information!
