Our Spanish teen trip begins in Barcelona, a vibrant city located on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. We spend two full days visiting the city’s major sites, including Gaudí’s Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia as well as the stadium of Barcelona FC. For a fresh perspective on this vibrant metropolis, we kayak in the Mediterranean Sea, visit hidden beaches and savor panoramas of the Barcelona skyline, all while swimming, laughing and enjoying the warm waters of the Mediterranean!
After getting acquainted with Barcelona, we settle into life with our host families. All families have been carefully selected and are connected to Bold Earth through long-term relationships. Campers stay two-per family in centrally-located houses, near to the leaders and other campers. Once at school, campers are divided by ability level and experience, then meet with Spanish teachers who encourage conversation and real-life practice. Morning classes are supplemented with afternoon excursions to the Picasso Museum, Gaudí’s historic homes and to the famous Mercat de Sant Josep located on Las Ramblas. With our Spanish much improved and a love for Barcelona, we head north into the Pyrenees Mountains for a few days of outdoor adventure! Near the town of Sort, we hike amidst alpine valleys and pristine lakes to a mountain cabin where we cook a delicious Spanish feast, enjoy amazing views of the stars, and sleep in wooden bunk beds. After an afternoon of conservation work at a mountain lake, we spend a full day whitewater rafting the wild and scenic Noguera River. The mix of outdoor adventure, authentic host families and Spanish classes make Bold Earth's spain teen trip a carefully crafted teen spain program. Lastly, we return to Barcelona to spend the last day celebrating an amazing two weeks in Spain with a Paella feast!
