Jacob started working at summer camps when he was 16 years old, teaching mountain biking, archery and backpacking before eventually taking over camp-wide programming responsibilities. Jacob's love for the outdoors and teaching led him to Americorps, where he volunteered with the Maryland Conservation Corps at Assateague State Park for a year. Aside from serving as an environmental educator, Jacob's multifaceted responsibilities with Americorps included becoming a certified Wilderness First Responder, wild land fire fighter and national rescue team member. Jacob is thrilled to bring his strong foundation of service, leadership and outdoor education to Bold Earth for Summer 2011!
What BOLD EARTH means to me?: Bold Earth offers all participants once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to learn about themselves, explore new parts of the world, positively impact others and forge life-long friendships. I am grateful and proud to be part of such a powerful, influential organization!

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: When not working as an outdoor educator, I most prefer to spend time travelling. While at home, you'll find me hiking, camping, reading, playing frisbee, being with friends and family and, if I have time, doing what I can to save the world.
