Todd Muchow

Todd has been guiding in the mountains, ski instructing and teaching English as a second language around the world off and on for seven years. Two of Todd's most memorable and rewarding experiences occured in Latin America. For two seasons, he guided on Argentina's Aconcagua (the highest mountain outside the Himalayas). Later, he helped a friend run his non-profit, Comunidad Connect, which helped connect American university students in Nicaragua with local, impoverished communities. Todd is thrilled to be returning to Bold Earth for his sixth summer and can't wait to lead Espana Adventure!

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: When I was in high school I had the opportunity to partake in an five-month exchange program in Western Europe, which spanned across seven countries, focusing on language, literature, art, and history. Those five months were arguably the greatest influence on who I am today: a seeker and adventurer. To work with Bold Earth, I feel I have the opportunity to give back to youth and inspire others, at a very impressionable age, to open up their hearts and minds to new cultures and adventures.

Favorite Quote: "Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible"-Frank Zappa

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: I seem to bounce back and forth between New York City and Colorado working as a free-lance writer, documentary film maker, ski instructor, bartender, and mountain guide. During my off-seasons I usually sneak away to some personally unexplored region of the world to do a bit of cultural exploration, climbing, or surfing. At home in Colorado you can usually find me searching for a new route to climb, fresh powder to ski, or simply just relaxing in a park playing my ukulele.

Education: B.A., International Affairs and Political Science, minors in Russian Studies and Philosophy, just accepted to a 2-year European Erasmus Mundus Masters course in Territorial Sustainable Development which will begin this fall.
