Abbott Wallis was born with camping and adventure travel in his blood. He founded Bold Earth Adventures in 1976 to combine his love of education and adventure travel with the enormous potential of teenagers to grow as they transition from childhood into adulthood. The range of students who have joined Bold Earth over the years includes Abbott's own children and teenagers from fifty countries and all fifty American states. The responsibility of over twelve thousand families putting their trust in our guardianship is a bond that our company embraces and will always work 110% to accomplish.
The Bold Earth formula is to facilitate growth in a stimulating environment away from home, surrounded by new mentors, diverse peers and challenges which bring out the best in our students. Our support system is always there. Students who join Bold Earth are already carefully parented and educated. Our goal is full immersion in a dynamic setting for a "break out" leadership experience which will engage each of our student participants into an even more hands-on and confident maturity.
Bold Earth has matured over 30+ years from small groups personally led by Abbott to almost 1,000 students and 100 adult leaders on six continents. It is amazing to consider that when Abbott founded Bold Earth in 1976 "Adventure Travel" as a defined field did not exist! The core of hands on participation and small group size remains the same. The scope, depth, quality and consistency of Bold Earth have greatly expanded over the years.
Abbott remains a hands on director who makes a point of speaking with most families and personally training and supervising leaders. During the summer, Abbott is the point person you will speak with if you have a problem. He has visited almost every location we visit and is instantly available to communicate with your child should there be a need. The privilege of working with families who partner with Bold Earth makes it all worthwhile.
