Allison comes to Bold Earth from Ohio, where she is currently enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher licensure program in music education at Ohio State University. She's worked with youth since she was 16, when she taught swimming lessons and lifeguarded. After six years of working as a counselor at a summer camp, Allison wrapped up her double-major undergraduate degree at Ohio University and spent two years working as a preschool teacher. She also volunteers for the Ohio State School for the Blid Marching Band, serving as a sighted marching assistant. Allison is certified in Wilderness First Respond, Adult CPR and lifeguarding, and can't wait to bring her strong skill set to Bold Earth this summer!
What BOLD EARTH means to me?: Bold Earth provides an amazing opportunity for teenagers to meet new people and explore the world. I love the way Bold Earth Trips challenge participants to step outside their comfort zones and achieve tremendous personal growth. As a trip leader, I encourage my students to grow together and build connections that will last a lifetime.
Favorite Quote: "Think globally, act locally."
What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: Aside from teaching preschool and working on my graduate degree, I work at a cooperatively-managed, member-owned community market. In my free time, I run marathons, cycle, bake for my friends, dance around my house, write music, play guitar and ukulele, sing in the symphony, and play with my dog.
Education: Ohio University, B.M. in Music History and Literature.
