Ben VanArendonk

Ben is a native and current resident of the beautiful state of Montana. Thanks to his upbringing between Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park and Kootenai National Forest, Ben has spent countless hours camping, hiking, rock climbing, and rafting. Ben has passed on his outdoor enthusiasm and knowledge to young adults by working at summer camps throughout his life, and has been involved with Young Life, a youth organization, since college. Ben is currently taking classes at Montana State University to prepare for his physical therapy doctorate program. Ben is certified in Wilderness First Responder, CPR and Life guarding. After leading Bold Earth trips in Alaska, Colorado, Nevada and California, Ben is excited to take his vast leadership experience to America's 50th state to lead Ultimate Hawaii this summer!

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: I can't think of a better company to work for than BOLD EARTH. This job combines two of my greatest passions: the outdoors and working with teens. Thanks to amazing students and leaders, BOLD EARTH provides an incredible work atmosphere: Everyone is so full of energy, and everyone has a common love for the outdoors and community. I have seen teens grow so much as people and create friendships that last beyond the trips. It is unbelievably rewarding to be a part of this company.

Favorite Quote: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." - St Fransis of Assisi

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: After graduating from Hope College in May 2009, I moved back to Montana to continue my education at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Between taking classes to prepare for my physical therapy doctorate program, I take time to enjoy all the mindblowing outdoors activities that Montana has to offer. During summer, you'll find me hiking, rock-climbing or mountain biking. During winter, I spend free time snowshoeing, ice climbing, or snowboarding. In my down time I'm either reading, playing or listening to music, or spending time with friends and family. I will be pursuing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in the fall of 2011.
