Dan Zahn

This is Dan's ninth summer leading trips for Bold Earth. Year after year, Dan earns rave reviews from his campers, who consistently say he is one of the funniest people they have ever met! Dan is currently back in school earning his teaching degree while keeping the peace as a Resident Advisor in his dorm. Already holding an undergraduate degree in History (and graduating with a 4.0 GPA), Dan plans on ultimately bringing his vast experience with youth to the classroom as a high school teacher. As a Bold Earth trip leader, Dan has led successful adventures in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Australia, Alaska, California, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. He is certified in Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Adult CPR, PADI Open Water Diver, and Lifeguarding. Dan is a patient, caring role model for teens, committed to giving campers the time of their lives in a safe environment while turning them on to the beauty of the outdoors!

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: BOLD EARTH is my second family and the greatest thing that ever happened to me! It represents the perfect balance of safety, fun, challenge and learning, and produces memories that last a lifetime!

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: Have fun! Daydream about BOLD EARTH! Try to take every opportunity that comes my way! I also love to travel. This year I went to India, Grand Cayman, and Dubai, and had a blast. I am always growing as an individual when I am out exploring new places. Sailing is also a passion of mine, along with snowboarding, writing, photography, and riding my Triumph Bonneville along the California coast. But the thing that brings me the most pleasure has got to be surfing. I think I am part fish, and love to spend as much time in the water as possible.

Education: Long Beach State University B.A. in History, Minor in Political Science
