Dave Roads

Camper Quote: Dave was amazing. He was there for me 24/7. He always went out of his way to make sure the group was having an awesome time. He was an incredible counselor and allowed me to have the greatest summer of my life. -Eathan, Chicago IL

Dave originally hails from Virginia, somewhere between the Blue Ridge and Washington, DC. A summer internship provided his first exposure to Colorado, the state he now calls home, so he departed the fields of finance for the open skies and big thrills of the Rocky Mountains. Over the last four years since his westward move, Dave has had the unbelievable privilege to expand the scale of his adventuring while connecting with incredible people and personalities from all over the world. He spent over four months abroad in 2010 - working on water purification for developing communities in the Dominican Republic, scuba diving in Borneo, climbing the oceanside limestone cliffs on the Andaman sea, or in meditation retreat in Thailand. This year, Dave went on a solo, self-supported cycling odyssey from Denver, Colorado all the way to Virginia, where his folks live. Dave is certified as an EMT, Wilderness First Responder, Adult CPR and Lifeguard. He prides himself on his calm creativity in challenging situations, and is unbelievably excited to be leading two Wild Coast Discovery adventures this summer!

Favorite Quote: "Peace be the journey." -Derice Bannock, Cool Runnings

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: I am blessed to work year-round with adventurous youth of all ages. In the winter I teach skiing to little tykes with big imaginations, in the powdery paradise of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. During the spring and fall I have the incredible privilege to travel the country and globe in pursuit of my personal passions: rock climbing, cycling, diving, and meeting new people of all persuasions. I apply great energy to writing about my experiences and documenting them with photography.

Education: Bachelor's of Science, Commerce, University of Virginia
