Jenny grew up in the damp, mossy wilds of the Pacific Northwest before defecting for sunnier climes to attend Davidson College in North Carolina. She majored in theatre and minored in playing outside with Davidson Outdoors, where she taught outdoor leadership classes and led backpacking, canoeing, climbing, and road biking trips. Her college experience also included studying in the Czech Republic, working on organic farms in New Zealand, and teaching at a township theatre school in Cape Town, South Africa. Since graduating last May, she spent a great summer in Hawaii with Bold Earth, taught creative drama to kindergartners and directed her first musical at an outdoor theatre near Seattle. She will be moving east in August to start a directing internship at the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati and climb at the Red River Gorge.
What BOLD EARTH means to me?: Bold Earth means a summer spent sleeping under the stars, working with amazing co-leaders, and sharing my passion for the outdoors with students from all over the world!
Favorite Quote: "In spite of illness, in spite even of the archenemy sorry, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways." - Edith Wharton
What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: Ideally, I would fill my days running in the woods, biking to work, figuring out ways to stay dry while biking to work, cross-country skiing, hanging off the sides of rock faces, directing plays, teaching, and continuing my quest for the perfect bar of dark chocolate.
