Just before joining Bold Earth in 2009, I took an 80-hour course to earn my Wilderness First Responder degree and completed a National Outdoor Leadership School mountaineering course for outdoor educators in Alaska. I began leading kids in outdoor adventures as a camp counselor in 2006 and 2007. I found the volunteer construction and landscaping projects at camp extremely rewarding, and as a result found the drive to earn my teaching certification for high school English, which I achieved in 2009.

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: BOLD EARTH means that kids have an opportunity to experience the fulfillment of exploration, challenge and success. It is about learning to lead, love, and grow, and turn a group of strangers into an amazing community of friends. It is about embracing ourselves and others' gifts and strengths and talents, and bringing the joy of living into every aspect of your life!

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: Create new adventures! I've worked at Dollywood, traveled Europe, road-tripped across the US, lived in Bolivia, and most recently, ridden my bicycle 3,000 miles from Los Angeles to Washington DC. Most of those adventures were with non-profit and humanitarian aid groups, as social justice is something I am very passionate about. I also enjoy running very long distances, writing long letters, reading lots of books, cooking lots of community meals, and dominating in Scrabble!
