Kathryn Aedy

Kathryn recently returned from a half-year internship working for a women's media NGO in Manila, Philippines following her first amazing summer leading for Bold Earth. She completed her undergraduate degree after earning university credits in Toronto, Vancouver and Wollongong (Australia). Her international experience has allowed her to pursue her love of skiing, mountains and beaches, but she views the enriching relationships she has created abroad as the most significant part of her travels. For nearly a decade, Kathryn has been working with youth through tutoring English, teaching violin, volunteering as a mentor, teaching art classes and, most recently, leading meaningful adventures across Europe with Bold Earth! Kathryn has a passion for education and believes in the power of each person's ability to realize their own unique strengths and talents.

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: I see BOLD EARTH as an opportunity for each camper and leader to truly come into their element and become the best versions of themselves! Over the course of one trip, there is nothing more rewarding than watching people's transformations as they cooperate with others, practice responsibility and teamwork, and truly express themselves in some of the richest historical and environmental spaces in the world.

Favorite Quote: "You are naturally great and your potential greatness is ever ready." - Christian Larson

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: I have spent the past five years studying, working and maximizing every opportunity to explore and experience the people, tastes and sounds of different places, whether overseas or in my own backyard. I practice yoga wherever I go and have recently been dragon boating for fun. When I return to Toronto after this summer's BOLD EARTH adventure, my area of work will align with supporting women's activism and promoting access and equality in education. Of course, being in Canada for the year will also mean making the most of ski season!
