Phil Dehais

Phil grew up in the suburbs of New York City but has spent the last four years living in Montreal, Canada, where he has broadened his horizons and tapped back into his French roots. His visits to family in France during childhood summers, along with trips to Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, sparked a love for travel and discovering new cultures from an early age. Phil’s enthusiasm to lead trips in Europe this year also comes from his five years working at Camp Sloane, YMCA in Connecticut as counselor and camp leader. In these summers Phil formed life-lasting friendships, met folks from many different cultures and inspired teens to become counselors with him as they got older. But it’s a new year, and now it’s time for him to expand his reach and experience the rest of the world with fellow travellers!

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: I’m thrilled for the opportunity to create the experience of a lifetime for teenagers that share my passions. An adventure this fulfilling couldn’t happen alone. To travel around to exciting new places as everyone becomes close friends and learns more about themselves, each other and this great world we live in – what more can you ask for?

Favorite Quote: "We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.” –T.S. Eliot

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: You can often find me playing basketball, soccer and snowboarding when I’m not working. I generally love exploring the outdoors by taking trips out of the city or up Mount Royal whenever I can.

Education: Graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Studying literature and philosophy has played a big role in the aspiration to always see the world in a new way.
