Sara Grove

With a bevy of teaching and wilderness experience already under her belt, Sara sees Bold Earth as the icing on her already rich and delicious outdoor leadership cake. Sara is a Wilderness First Responder as well as a PASA certified kiteboarding instructor. She worked for two years as the head coach of a girl's lacrosse team, served countless summers as a camp leader at Daystar Counseling Ministries and was sent to rural Panama with Learning enterprises to teach English as a second language. Over the last eight years Sara has led young people in areas of athletics, academics and personal growth as a mentor, tutor, teacher and coach. She is thrilled to be bringing her extensive leadership resume and South American travel experience to Peru this summer, where she will be leading Bold Earth's Machu Picchu Amazon adventure.

What BOLD EARTH means to me?: BOLD EARTH means dancing around on this playground of a planet, exploring with amazing students ready to be dazzled by the possibilities within ourselves and the environment surrounding us. BOLD EARTH means community, wonder, and always, always laughter.

Favorite Quote: "I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, as it extends into the world around us, it goes an equal distance into the world within." -Lillian Smith

What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: I am a kiteboarding instructor in the Outerbanks of North Carolina. I teach and kite until the sun sets on the Pamlico Sound. On windless days you might find me on the ocean side riding waves, kayaking, building bonfires, reading overdue library books and attempting to cook delicious things. My life is filled with friends, food, adventures, travel, mandolin, books, tunes, and yerba máte.
