I first began leading backpacking trips in college for incoming freshmen. I am Wilderness First Responder, First AID and CPR and lifeguard certified. After graduating from college, I moved to Asia and taught English for a year in Taiwan and had the best year of my life! I have led two summers with BOLD EARTH (WICODISCO and Bold West) and can honestly say that it is the most fun and rewarding job I have had!
What BOLD EARTH means to me?: There is no way to describe how great the leaders are that BOLD EARTH hires. I have made lifelong friends and always look forward to coming back each summer to see old friends and meet the new, great leaders! I have never felt so involved in an organization and felt so valued and trusted to do my work. Thanks Abbott!
Favorite Quote: "I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture or to carve a statue and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts" - Thoreau
What I do when I'm not at BOLD EARTH: I'm in school now, so reading and studying and trying to get through graduate school. But when I'm don't have my nose buried in school, road biking, running, slacklining, playing bluegrass music, reading Hemingway, finding any excuse to go overseas...
Education: International Economics and currently working my master's degree at the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy for economic development and national security.
