Sam Steiner

Senior trip leader

Sam grew up in rural Ohio before moving to Michigan to attend Calvin University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She was a counselor and nature specialist at a summer camp, which led her to organize backpacking trips for students all over the American northwest. She’s been a middle school teacher on the Navajo Nation, backpacking guide in Colorado, and outdoor educator in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Now, she teaches third grade in Montana, and she spent last summer climbing 15 different peaks within Glacier National Park. Sam is a wilderness first responder and lifeguard, and is returning to Bold Earth for her sixth year.
