Balancing Safety with Adventure
There is an inherent level of risk with the travel and outdoor recreation we do. No adventure can be guaranteed risk-free. Our goal is not to eliminate risk entirely, but to include our students in the risk management process. By teaching students how to evaluate risk, we empower them to make their own responsible decisions in the future.
We aim to balance physical and emotional safety with genuine adventure, eliminating unnecessary risks while maintaining an environment of real-world challenges.
Industry-Leading Safety Standards
Cornerstone Safety Group Membership
As a member of Cornerstone Safety Group, we participate in industry-leading risk assessment training and receive on-call safety support when our trips are in the field. This specialist safety team helps us vet our professional vendors and provides crisis response solutions for any medical or mental health issue that might arise.
Professional Medical Certification
Every trip leader is Wilderness First Responder and CPR certified. Many trip leaders hold advanced medical certifications.
How We Focus on Student Safety
At Bold Earth, the safety of our participants is our top priority. We implement rigorous safety protocols to ensure a secure and enjoyable adventure.
Mature Leadership
We hire more experienced trip leaders (than the industry average), many of whom return for multiple seasons. Our leaders come from professional backgrounds of backcountry guiding, youth leadership, and outdoor education.
Rigorous Training
Our trip leaders undergo intensive risk management training and are carefully selected through a three-tiered interview hiring process.
Vetted Partners
Our international and domestic outfitters are vetted carefully through a thorough review process. We’ve worked with many of them for decades, building trusting professional relationships.
24/7 Support
Our office leadership team is available on a 24-hour basis throughout the summer. We maintain after-hours phone lines for extremely time-sensitive situations and provide support to trip leaders and families around the clock.

They were able to accommodate her by adjusting the sleeping arrangements. I thought the trip was safe for teens, provided a detailed itinerary, and the departure from the airport was great!
