Hailing from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Anna is passionate about all things outdoors; particularly in fostering connections with youth, nature, and one another. She is currently finishing up her degree in Special Education from Michigan State University (Go Green!). Her personal travels have taken her across Europe, Northern Africa, Central America, Alaska, and Hawaii including study abroad experiences in Spain and Costa Rica. Anna has worked as an excursions counselor at summer camps in Wisconsin and Utah, where she led teens on backcountry backpacking and canoeing trips. She is thrilled to begin her next adventure with Bold Earth this summer and can’t wait to create lasting memories and meaningful connections.

The Deeper Dive:

What drew you to the Bold Earth community?

What drew me to work at Bold Earth was its genuine emphasis on community and leadership. I’m excited for the opportunity to be part of a new community where I can grow as a leader while helping the students I work with do the same. I was also drawn to how intentional Bold Earth is in everything they do. I admire how every part of the experience is thoughtfully designed to help students (and staff) grow, connect, and leave with a newfound sense of confidence and community.

What is your Bold Earth superpower?

My BE superpower is being a “Silver-Lining Spotter.” No matter the situation, I naturally look for the positive and help others see it as well. Whether plans change or things get challenging, I keep a positive attitude and remind the group that there’s still something to enjoy or learn from the moment.

What is your adventure must-have?

My adventure must-have is my journal! Journaling allows me to take a quiet moment at the end of each day to reflect, document all of the small and big moments that took place, and practice gratitude. You will never regret documenting these memories to look back on in the years to come.

What song would you add to the van playlist?

The song that I would add to the van playlist would be “Let It Grow” from The Lorax. This song has the ability to bring people together and there is no better feeling than screaming it at the top of your lungs with everyone in the group.
