Hi everyone! My name is Caleb, and I am so excited to be a BE Trip Leader this summer. I have previously worked with high schoolers as an overnight summer camp counselor, and I am also an Eagle Scout! I discovered my interest in guiding through a class called “Learning in Outdoor Education” at the University of Sydney. Since then, I’ve wanted to combine my passion for fostering interpersonal and team growth with my love for the outdoors. In researching providers, I was excited by Bold Earth’s fifty-year track record as well as their kind and communicative staff. I hope you’ll be drawn in as I was, and I can’t wait to meet y’all this summer!

The Deeper Dive

What drew you to the Bold Earth community?

I wanted to work for a provider with a strong organizational culture and top-tier reputation. Bold Earth checked all of these boxes between their decades of guiding experience, three-part interview process, and professional yet warm staff. I felt like a part of the team even before I met any fellow Bold Earth-ers in person, so accepting the offer was a no-brainer!

What is your Bold Earth superpower?

I would choose to have an infinite supply of snacks so I never get hungry on the trail! I am always intentional about the food that I bring in my pack, so having a magical food superpower would allow me to focus on planning awesome trips while ensuring that I stay healthy and energized!

What is your adventure must-have?

On any trip, I’m without a doubt bringing whatever book that I’m currently reading and (if space/weight allows) my hammock! I think there’s something special about reading outside and doubly special when you get to do it in a hammock (though I usually end up falling asleep after a few pages).

What song would you add to the van playlist?

Any old Bruno Mars song! I think they’re pretty universal, and they’re the perfect jams for a road trip.
