Kamryn grew up in Indiana hiking and exploring outside but discovered her love for the ocean and diving through her scuba program at Indiana University, inspired by her mom’s work as a dive guide and her own goal to help keep beaches and oceans in Mexico clean. She’s spent years exploring the outdoors, backpacking, scuba diving, climbing, caving, and surfing through seasonal work and as a trip leader with IU Outdoor Adventures. Over seven years of camp experience, she’s guided trips in Colorado and Wisconsin and taught marine science and scuba diving on Topsail Island, North Carolina. As a certified EMT, she knows how to stay calm and think on her feet, helping groups handle challenges while making the most of every adventure.

The Deeper Dive:

What drew you to the Bold Earth community?

I was drawn to Bold Earth because of its mission to create transformative outdoor experiences that challenge and empower young people. I love guiding teens through moments of growth whether it’s their first climb, breath underwater, or night under the stars; in addition to helping them discover confidence, resilience, and connection in the wild. Bold Earth’s focus on meaningful experiences and building community aligns perfectly with my passion for outdoor education and youth mentorship.

What is your Bold Earth superpower?

My Bold Earth superpower is making everyone feel seen, supported, and ready to dive into adventure. I love bringing energy and goofiness to the day, whether it’s teaching a lesson, making a tough call, or breaking into a spontaneous dance. People know they can relax, speak up, and enjoy the fun.

What is your adventure must-have?

My adventure must-haves are a perfectly curated playlist for the van ride, friendship bracelet string, a fun game to kill the time, and my trusty field binder full of field notes; various lessons, such as sea turtles and survival tips, and poems and readings for the quieter reflective moments. Perfect combo of fun, connection, and heart.

What song would you add to the van playlist?

‘Mas Que Nada’ from the Rio movie! It’s my scuba hype song that makes me feel like I’m about to go on the adventure of a lifetime.
