Kira grew up in sunny South Florida and just graduated from Duke University with a degree in environmental and marine sciences. Kira was a trip leader for Duke Outing Club and an orientation leader for her university’s backpacking first-year orientation program. She loved working at the rock wall on campus and taught a course about experiential outdoor education. Prior to joining Bold Earth, she was a counselor at a specialized marine science camp called Whale Camp, teaching students about ocean ecosystems and leading them on aquatic adventures. She loves lying in the grass, rocking a pair of sandals, and sharing cool whale facts with her friends. As a former Bold Earth student herself, Kira is stoked to return for her second summer as a trip leader and is excited to share her passion for outdoor adventure with her students!

What drew you to the Bold Earth community?
Kira’s passion for the outdoors was sparked by the beautiful places she visited growing up and the supportive communities she found in outdoor spaces. She loves connecting with others through challenging and fun outdoor experiences and has found an incredible community at Bold Earth, committed to authenticity and magic.

 

What is your Bold Earth superpower?
Getting the energy up with a group game (big Yeehaw fan here!)
