Growing up in Russia, Liza attended a wilderness summer camp for 7 summers, where she fell in love with backcountry camping, sharing stories around the campfire, kayaking, and discovering that the best sleep often comes after a long day outdoors in a tent. Those summers sparked her lifelong passion for adventure and the environment. She loves exploring new countries, learning about different cultures, and making sure every trip includes at least one good hike. She is also a big fan of road trips and has visited 48 U.S. states, driving through more than 40 of them, as well as more than 15 U.S. national parks.

 

The Deeper Dive:

What drew you to the Bold Earth community?

As a camp kid myself, some of my favorite childhood memories were created at camp, and I also learned a lot about myself there. Bold Earth’s mission of getting kids outside, encouraging them to try new things, and stay curious really resonates with me. I believe experiences like these can help kids discover how brave and capable they are, and that they can do much more than they think.

 

What is your Bold Earth superpower?

I like to be helpful. If you need an extra hand cooking, I’ll be there. If you need help taking care of equipment, I’ll step up. And if you want to talk, I’m happy to listen.

 

What is your adventure must-have?

I like to bring my camera to capture wildlife and plants. With hundreds of photos and videos, some of my favorite subjects are slugs, bees, and ferns. Last summer, I got some really cool photos of bears and foxes in Yellowstone National Park.
