Olivia is a middle school English teacher currently teaching sixth graders about the joys of the English language. Prior to working at Bold Earth, Olivia worked at a residential summer camp in South Carolina, coached for Girls on the Run, and has traveled far and wide for both trip leading and pleasure. This is Olivia’s sixth season as Bold Earth Trip Leader! Bold Earth has taken her all over the continental US as well as Hawaii, Croatia, and Montenegro. Her own travels have brought her to study abroad in Florence, Italy and adventures through Germany, Tonga, Fiji, China, Hong Kong, Chile, Costa Rica, Singapore, France, and more.

 

The Deeper Dive:

What drew you to the Bold Earth community? 

Like many people in 2021, my life had been turned upside down by the pandemic. The path I thought I had planned out for myself was pulled out from under me and I was left with the opportunity to restart my life. I started the process of becoming a teacher when I realized how important connection, laughter, and working with kids was to me. Attending and working at a residential summer camp has been one of the highlights of my life, and I wanted to find a place where I could continue working with teenagers in that capacity while also exploring the world and meeting new, likeminded people. Bold Earth easily fit the bill and as it’s my sixth year, I can safely say I have found a forever home in the people that I surround myself with every summer.

 

What is your adventure must-have?

My adventure must-have is a slightly smushed and melted granola bar that always comes in handy just in time. I store snacks everywhere as I am a firm believer that no one is their best self when they’re hungry. You’d be surprised- that old granola bar hits the spot just when you need it most.

 

What is your song of the summer to play in the van? 

While I do work hard to be a crowd-pleaser when it comes to the van music, a little Taylor Swift every once in a while can really turn a good drive into a great drive. I’m thinking ‘Opalite’ as my 2026 van song of choice.
